What's Shiny Today (Reasons To Be Happy Edition)
- A nice little story about an unobtrusive area of Oakland, keeping your
spirits up in hard times, and feet.
- Dog noses! Cuuuuuuuute!
- BART is installing ticket machines and fare gates that actually
work! These are scheduled to replace old machinery that is a mechanical
nightmare. Also, the existing ticket machines have the worst user interface
design ever; hopefully the new ones will be both less balky and easier to
use.
- OK, just humor me a little longer on the baseball thing, because I loved
this quote:
"Everyone is happier because the Yankees lost," the Rally Monkey said. "The economy is in the toilet, our CEOs are crooks, our 401Ks are worthless and we're heading to war -- but at least the Yankees got knocked out of the postseason. It gives everyone hope."
