A conversation this morning:
TheBoy: They're making a movie out of The Producers.
Me: (indifferent noise)
TheBoy (waiting for my irony detector to kick in) : They're making a movie. Of The Producers.
Me: And you didn't see this one coming?
TheBoy: I suppose I should have.

From a story on the East Bay Parks police:
"'This 16-year-old girl was hitchhiking here about a year and a half ago,'
said King as he steered his patrol car through the dips and turns of
Tilden's narrow roads, which are shaded by stately oaks, redwoods and
eucalyptus.
'So this guy picks her up,' King said. 'We're convinced he was completely
legitimate - he just wanted to give her ride. She tells him she wants to
go to a party in Tilden. Then she stabs him 16 times and runs off with his
wallet. Luckily, he survived.'"

The Governator says that the Bay Area should foot the bill for the $2.3 billion in cost overruns on the Bay Bridge. No word yet on when Northern Californians can expect a refund on our share of the $4.5 billion LA subway system, which unlike the Bay Bridge, doesn't go anywhere useful and no one even uses.
