Mousie Meets Its Match

TheCat was a real trouper at the vet's the other day, and she was way overdue for a new cat toy, so we went shopping this weekend.

TheCat had fixated on one catnip mouse that she got a couple of years ago, and no toy could sway her loyalty. Mousie is completely battered and nasty looking, and TheCat likes to drool all over it and leave it where we are likely to step on it barefoot.

Criteria for a new Mousie: must be about two inches long (big enough to kick and fling around), stuffed with catnip of course, and the fabric needs to be thin enough that she can smell the catnip and thus properly bond with her new toy.

So we found this. Sized correctly, stuffed with enough catnip that even the humans could smell it, cute as all get out and made with fake fur to boot. But would TheCat like it?

She was all over it before I even had it out of the bag. While Mousie sat dry and unmolested, TheCat was merrily flinging the new toy around the room, scooting around on the floor on her side and drooling up a storm. Success!
