You've probably seen the "finalist" graphic around on some of your favorite journals. As those writers' peers, you have the power to actually give that award.

And if you come across something touching or funny or amazingly written in your daily web travels, or find a new journal that amazes you with how good it is, bookmark it. Nominations will be happening again in a few weeks and it's dead simple to do. The nominations that came in this quarter were quality but don't represent 1/10 of the good stuff out there.
